How To Answer Privately From Ask Blog
Problems With Tumblr Ask | Answer Posts
Asking questions on Tumblr
You can ask questions or say anything to anyone on Tumblr just by going to the ask page on their blog (as long as they have turned on this feature in their settings). If you received a question, you can choose to answer it and then publish both question and answer on your blog.
This is really pretty cool, you know, though it does have its limitations, unfortunately. What's wrong with the ask and answer posts on Tumblr?
Appearance of Tumblr asks
You can access the asks or questions that you get on your Tumblr inbox. This is how it looks:
The 3 buttons on the lower left side correspond to the following:
- Answer
- Delete
- Ignore
If you click on the answer button, a textbox will show up where you can type your reply to the question. You can then choose to post your reply where it will then be published to your blog. Clicking on the cancel button will close the textbox and you'll see the 3 buttons again.
Problems / issues with the Tumblr asks and answer posts
So, what's wrong with this then? A lot of things, unfortunately. When I got these asks, I wanted to answer them but I didn't want to post them right away. I wanted to schedule the posts so I won't end up publishing several posts at once on my Tumblr blog. Besides, I also currently have a few other posts queued to be published on certain dates and times so I didn't want to end up publishing 2 posts on the same day or something.
Cannot schedule Tumblr answer posts
Unfortunately, I can't schedule my answer posts. I can only answer the questions and then post them on my blog right away. What's up with that? What a hassle, isn't it?
Other problems with the Tumblr ask and answer posts
As you can see from the screenshot above, the post editor for the Tumblr answer post is lacking a lot of other important stuff. It isn't at all like creating a text post and publishing said text post.
Here are the other issues with the Tumblr ask and answer posts:
- You can't preview your post
- You can't save it as a draft
- You can't add tags
- You can't set your own URL
- You can't access the HTML view of your post
What's up with that? How come it's like that? What's with all the limitations of this feature? It would have been so much cooler and nicer if it wasn't for all these problems, right? What do you think?
